*full disclosure: I will receive a lil commission if you use the included links, at no cost to you.
When it comes to traveling on a plane or lounging outside while camping, coloring books are a great relaxing way to do something during the do nothing times. And Adult Coloring Books are a trend I definitely want to hop on! 🙌
And you’re here because you want to know which ones to buy! Here are the 5 most popular & unique Adult Coloring Books that I’ve found online!
For the Doodlers— “The Reverse Coloring Book: The Book Has the Colors, You Draw the Lines” by Kendra Norton
My sister recently bought this book and I was immediately amazed. 😱 I’ve never seen this kind of book before and I’m a chronic doodler soooo this book is a must-have for me!
My sister graciously allowed me to doodle in one of the pages, which was shown in the example photo for this blog 🤗 10/10 experience! I’ll get my own to do warm-up drawings before I paint! {Her book was the “Through the Seasons” version}
Each page is full of water color paint marks and the point is to make doodles you see over the marks. Hence reverse coloring! You make the lines instead of adding color. So fun! Each page has a perforation so that you can cleanly take out a page to display too.
ART SUPPLIES TO USE WITH THIS BOOK:
I would opt for any kind or color of pen. Obviously a classic black pen would be great.
My Favorite are Sharpie Pens { $18 for 12 pens}: https://amzn.to/4n9tXfU
~ great for making fine lines and less likely to smudge or bleed through the page, and water resistant
Ball Point Pens {$7 for 60 pens} : https://amzn.to/447GK9M
~cheap and most likely laying around. Easy to adjust the pressure on the pen to shade/make lighter to bolder lines
IN CONCLUSION:
Love how some look like recognizable shapes already, like flowers, and that it allows for more active creativity if you’re artistic. Below shows an example of a page.
2. Cozy Friends series by Coco Wyo
I’ve seen these all over TikTok and everyone colors them in in such aesthetically pleasing ways. Here’s one Tiktok from Laranja Papaya that shows the potential best: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8rQN8oo/
I would buy this in the spiral bound version ($12.94 USD as of 6/19/25) so that it’s easy to lay the pages down flat to color. I would also use cardboard or a plastic insert behind each page you color to insure that the colors you use doesn’t bleed into the page below it.

I would also buy nicer markers to achieve the vibrant colors and blending moments you see online.
Fancy Markers aka Copic Markers {$141.55 for a set of 72 markers}: https://amzn.to/3I4pCu8
~professional quality and made in Japan, artists have always raved about these because of the vibrant colors and capability to blend {dream product for me 💛}
Affordable Markers aka Ohuhu Alcohol Markers {$24.99 for 24 markers} : https://amzn.to/3SXZQKr
~fantastic reviews on Amazon, perfect for beginners and they have great colors & blending capability
IN CONCLUSION:
Love the cute, anime-like animals in peaceful scenes. Pages inside look like this below.
3. Comfy Patterns by Coco Wyo
Personally, I get quite overwhelmed with complex patterns in most coloring books. So I found another book illustrated by Coco Wyo! Seriously has the cutest designs and a bestseller on Amazon.
I was drawn to this book because of all the simple patterns to color in (52 pages to be exact). No technical skill or thought is needed. Just the perfect amount of aimless coloring ✨
ART SUPPLIES TO USE WITH THIS BOOK:
Of course I’d recommend the same markers as the last book (option #2) for this. Coloring pencils are another great option!
Fancier Option, Prismacolor Colored Pencils {$23.08 for 23 pencils}: https://amzn.to/3HMmSli
~great pigment and overall quality 👌 I’ve used these many a time, from beginner to pro level!
Affordable Option, Crayola Colored Pencils {$4.94 for 36 pencils} : https://amzn.to/441VBm9
~a classic art supply that I feel like I’ve always had access to, from kindergarten to adulthood, for a reason! Does the job 👍
IN CONCLUSION:
This book is adorable and is best for those wanting a relaxing moment, no skill required. Below is an example showing what’s inside the book.
4. Cat Moments by Hikaru Kotz
Had to add one more to the list in this cute cartoon style! I’m just obsessed with the character of the cats in these illustrations, 40 pages altogether btw.
If you love animals like me, I feel like each page would bring a moment of happiness. So fun to color in!
ART SUPPLIES TO USE WITH THIS BOOK:
I woudn’t recommend anything different than I’ve already suggested. Most of these books won’t have the kind of paper that can handle the weight of anything other than ink.
So! Here are the same marker recommendations for ya:
Fancy Markers aka Copic Markers {$141.55 for a set of 72 markers}: https://amzn.to/3I4pCu8
~professional quality and made in Japan, artists have always raved about these because of the vibrant colors and capability to blend {dream product for me 💛}
Affordable Markers aka Ohuhu Alcohol Markers {$24.99 for 24 markers} : https://amzn.to/3SXZQKr
~fantastic reviews on Amazon, perfect for beginners and they have great colors & blending capability
IN CONCLUSION:
If you love cats, this book has the perfect simplistic style showcasing their personalities. Below is what it looks like inside the book.

5. Bob Ross Color-by-Number by Carolyn Saletto (Illustrator) & Thunder Bay Press (Author)
There is something so soothing about turning your brain off and following directions. This book doesn’t require any creative thinking or artistic skill—it’s just filling out shapes according to a color key included in the first pages to create Bob Ross inspired nature illustrations 🙌
I came across this book while shopping and I knew it was going to make it on this list! There are 90 illustrations and great reviews online. Plus, you can tear these out cleanly to display because of the perforations along each page.
ART SUPPLIES TO USE WITH THIS BOOK:
Because these pages are thicker, they can handle mediums like gel pens or maybe even acrylic paint markers. I’d suggest these over colored pencils because you’d want something to cover the numbers that are in a black ink in each shape.
Gel Pens by Pentel Arts {Solar Pop Set, 8 Pens for $14.98}: https://amzn.to/44ku67F
I’d recommend getting the white gel pens in this brand too! Fun to add highlights over anything and these are supposed to have great opacity & color.
Acrylic Paint Markers by Shuttle Art { about $46 for 36 markers} : https://amzn.to/3HUW95Z
I’ve used these before and I love how quickly they dry, colors available, and the ability to build up opacity. You just need to shake them a bit before using to make sure the pigments don’t settle. No need to press down hard to use, they are ready to go immediately.
IN CONCLUSION:
This book is perfect for those who love relaxing nature scenes and directions on how to make a successful illustration. Kind of a fun puzzle moment too, finding all the numbers to fill in. Overall, requires no skill or artistic creativity. Great for beginners!
TO OFFICIALLY CONCLUDE:
Adult Coloring Books are a great way to relax during any moment you need something busy to do to pass the time.
I’ll be doing these while watching reality TV or camping or flying for sure! I’ll keep you updated on which one I do first too!
Let me know in the comments below if you end up doing any of these too! Would love to see the results 💖
